✧ There was a man from Banū Rabāḥ called Ibn Uthāl, a poet, who came with al-Farazdaq to water at the outskirts of Kufa, on condition that this one would hamstring a hundred camels and this one a hundred camels when they came to the water. When they came, they attacked them with swords, cutting their hocks. The people went out on donkeys and mules seeking the meat, while ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib ؓ was in Kufa. He went out on the white mule of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, calling: 'O people, do not eat their meat, for it has been consecrated to other than Allah Almighty.'
