قَالَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْأَزْرَقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ عَسْعَسَ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ، قَالَ:
إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَفَقَدَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَخْلُوَ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّي، فَأَعْتَزِلَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فَلَا تَفْعَلْ، وَلَا يَفْعَلْهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ - قَالَهَا ﷺ ثَلَاثًا - فَلَصَبْرُ سَاعَةٍ فِي بَعْضِ مَوَاطِنِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عِبَادَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ عَامًا
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was on a journey, and he missed a man from his companions. Then the man was brought to him, and he said: 'I wanted to be alone with the worship of my Lord, and to withdraw from people.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not do that, and let none of you do it' - he ﷺ said it three times - 'for enduring an hour in some of the places of the Muslims is better than worship for forty years.'
