وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي قَيْلَوَيْهِ أَبُو صَالِحٍ، قَالَ:
كَانَ لِي عَلَى عِلْجٍ عِشْرُونَ دِرْهَمًا، فَأَهْدَى إِلَيَّ هَدِيَّةً، فَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ فَقَالَ: احْسُبْ ثَمَنَ الْهَدِيَّةِ وَخُذِ الْبَقِيَّةَ

✧ I had twenty dirhams owed to me by a non-Arab. He sent me a gift, so I asked Ibn Abbas ؓ, and he said: Calculate the value of the gift and take the remainder.
