✧ The Imam's Abstaining from Taking Charity

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ الْبَجَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو ابْنُ أَخِي عِلْبَاءَ، عَنْ عِلْبَاءَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ:
مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِبِلٌ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَخَذَ وَبَرَةً مِنْ ظَهْرِ بَعِيرٍ فَقَالَ: مَا أَنَا بِأَحَقَّ بِهَذِهِ الْوَبَرَةِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Translation

✧ A camel from the charity passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he took a hair from the back of a camel and said: 'I am no more entitled to this hair than any man among the Muslims.'
