✧ I used to hear Umar ؓ say: 'No one from Quraysh enters a door except that people enter with him.' I did not know the interpretation of his statement until Umar ؓ was stabbed. He ordered Suhayb ؓ to lead the people in prayer for three days, and he ordered that food be prepared for the people. When they returned from the funeral, they came and the tables had been laid, but the people refrained from them because of the grief they were in. Al-Abbas b. Abd al-Muttalib ؓ came and said: 'O people, indeed... has died.' The hadith continues.
