✧ The poor came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'The wealthy possessors of property have taken the highest degrees and everlasting bliss. They pray as we pray, and they fast as we fast, but they have surplus wealth with which they perform Hajj and 'Umrah, and they engage in jihad and give charity.' He said: 'Shall I not inform you of a matter which, if you take hold of it, you will catch up with those who preceded you, and no one after you will catch up with you, and you will be the best of those among whom you are, except one who does the like of your deeds? You should glorify Allah, praise Him, and magnify Him after every prayer thirty-three times.' He said: 'So we differed among ourselves. Some of us said: We should glorify thirty-three times, praise thirty-three times, and magnify thirty-four times. So I returned to him and he said: "Say: Subhan Allah, wal-hamdu lillah, wa Allahu akbar, until you complete all of them thirty-three times."'
