أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ " يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِـ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى، وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا وَنَحْوِهَا، وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الصُّبْحِ بِأَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to recite in the noon and afternoon prayers 'By the night when it covers' and 'By the sun and its brightness' and the like of them, and he used to recite in the morning prayer with longer than that.
