✧ Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-A'mash. Abu Bakr said: This is the report of the Iraqis which they used as evidence, from 'Abd Allah b. Zayd, regarding doubling the call to prayer and the iqamah, and in their chains there is confusion as I have explained. And 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Layla did not hear from Mu'adh b. Jabal, nor from 'Abd Allah b. Zayd b. 'Abd Rabbih, the companion of the call to prayer. It is not permissible to use an unestablished report as evidence against established reports, and I will clarify this issue [in its entirety] in the book of prayer, 'al-Musnad al-Kabir', not 'al-Mukhtasar'.
