Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 3303

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ رُومَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: قَالَتْ لِي عَائِشَةُ:

قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ لَهَدَمْتُ الْبَيْتَ حَتَّى أُدْخِلَ فِيهِ مَا أَخْرَجُوا مِنْهُ فِي الْحِجْرِ، فَإِنَّهُمْ عَجَزُوا عَنْ نَفَقَتِهِ، وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ بَابَيْنِ بَابًا شَرْقِيًّا وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا، وَأَلْصَقْتُهُ بِالْأَرْضِ، وَوَضَعْتُهُ عَلَى أَسَاسِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " قَالَ: فَكَانَ ذَاكَ الَّذِي دَعَا ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ إِلَى هَدْمِهِ وَبِنَائِهِ، قَالَ: فَشَهِدْتُهُ حِينَ هَدَمَهُ وَبَنَاهُ، فَاسْتَخْرَجَ أَسَاسَ الْبَيْتِ كَأَسْنِمَةِ الْبُخْتِ مُتَلَاحِكَةً، قَالَ أَبِي: فَقُلْتُ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ رُومَانَ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ أَطُوفُ مَعَهُ أَرِنِي مَا أَخْرَجُوا مِنَ الْحِجْرِ مِنْهُ، قَالَ: أُرِيكَهُ الْآنَ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَيْهِ، قَالَ: هَذَا الْمَوْضِعُ، قَالَ أَبِي: فَحَزَرْتُهُ نَحْوًا مِنْ سِتَّةِ أَذْرُعٍ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: O ʿĀʾishah, were it not that your people are recent in the era of ignorance, I would have demolished the House and included in it what they removed from it in the Hijr, for they were unable to afford its expense. I would have made for it two doors, an eastern door and a western door, attached it to the ground, and placed it on the foundation of Abraham. He said: That is what prompted Ibn al-Zubayr to demolish it and rebuild it. He said: I witnessed it when he demolished it and rebuilt it, and he extracted the foundation of the House like the humps of Bactrian camels, interlocking. My father said: I said to Yazīd b. Rūmān, while I was circumambulating with him that day, show me what they removed from the Hijr of it. He said: I will show you now. When he reached it, he said: This is the place. My father said: I estimated it to be about six cubits.
