✧ The Size of the Pebbles with Which the Jamarat Are Stoned

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْخَطَّابِ زِيَادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَبِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ حَرْمَلَةَ - عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هِنْدَ، عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ:
حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ [ فَلَمَّا وَقَفْنَا بِعَرَفَاتٍ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ] وَاضِعًا إِحْدَى إِصْبَعَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى، فَقُلْتُ لِعَمِّي: يَا عَمِّ، مَا يَقُولُ ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: ارْمُوا الْجِمَارَ بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَاذِفِ

✧ I performed Ḥajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we stood at ‘Arafāt, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing one finger over the other, so I said to my uncle: “O uncle, what is he saying?” He said: “He is saying: ‘Throw the jamarāt with the like of small throwing pebbles.’”
