Chain of narrators
- Muḥammad b. Maʿmar
✧ Muḥammad b. Bakr narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed us with the like of it exactly. Abū Bakr said: The reports of Ibn ‘Abbās: “I was among those whom the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead on the night of Muzdalifah from Jam‘ to Minā at night” indicate that the one commanded to collect the pebbles on the morning of Muzdalifah is al-Faḍl b. ‘Abbās, not ‘Abdullāh. And the reports of al-Faḍl: “He was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ from Jam‘ to Minā at night” indicate that the report of Mushāsh, from ‘Aṭā’, from Ibn ‘Abbās, from al-Faḍl: “I was among those whom the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead” is an error, because the one sent ahead with the weak from Jam‘ to Minā is ‘Abdullāh b. ‘Abbās, not al-Faḍl.
