Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2990

Translation

✧ I said to Ibn ʿAbbās: Ramal is three circuits around the House and four walking; your people claim it is a sunnah. He said: They are right and wrong. The Prophet ﷺ came to Makkah, and when the people of Makkah heard of him, they said: Look at the companions of Muḥammad—they are too weak from emaciation to circumambulate the House. So the Messenger of God ﷺ said: Show them what they dislike.
