✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered Makkah to perform ‘umrah before its conquest, and Ibn Rawahah was walking in front of him, reciting: “Make way, O sons of the disbelievers, from his path; today we strike you for its revelation, a blow that removes heads from their resting place and makes a friend forget his friend.” ‘Umar said, “O Ibn Rawahah! In the sanctuary of God, and in front of the Messenger of God ﷺ, you recite this poetry?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “Leave him, O ‘Umar! For by Him in whose hand is my soul, his words are harder on them than the falling of arrows.”
