✧ The Traveler's Recommendation to Say Takbir When Ascending a Rise and Tasbih When Descending

حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ الْقُرَشِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُرِيدُ سَفَرًا، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَوْصِنِي. قَالَ: " أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ، وَالتَّكْبِيرِ عَلَى كُلِّ شَرَفٍ "، فَلَمَّا مَضَى قَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ ازْوِ لَهُ الْأَرْضَ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْهِ السَّفَرَ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ intending to travel. He said, 'O Messenger of God, advise me.' He said, 'I advise you to fear God, and to say takbir upon every rise.' When he left, he said, 'O God, roll up the earth for him, and make travel easy for him.'
