✧ We attended Amr b. al-As while he was at the point of death. He wept for a long time and said: When Allah placed Islam in my heart, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, extend your right hand so that I may pledge allegiance to you. He extended his hand, but I withdrew my hand. He said: "What is the matter with you, O Amr?" I said: I wanted to stipulate a condition. He said: "What condition do you stipulate?" I said: That I be forgiven. He said: "Do you not know, O Amr, that Islam destroys what came before it, that emigration destroys what came before it, and that Hajj destroys what came before it?"
