حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُمَيْرٍ - عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَرْفَعُهُ - قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى - إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:
سُئِلَ: أَيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ ؟ وَأَيُّ الصِّيَامِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ؟ فَقَالَ: أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ الصَّلَاةُ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ، وَأَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللهِ الْمُحَرَّمُ

✧ He was asked: Which prayer is best after the prescribed prayer, and which fasting is best after the month of Ramadan? He said: The best prayer after the prescribed prayer is prayer in the middle of the night, and the best fasting after Ramadan is the month of Allah, al-Muharram.

أخطأ فيه عبيد الله الصواب ما رواه زائدة وغيره عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن محمد بن المنتشر عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن منهم من يقول عن أبي هريرة ومنهم من يرسله يقول حميد عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والصحيح متصل حميد عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
machine translationʿUbayd Allāh erred in it. The correct version is what Zāʾidah and others narrated from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr, from Muḥammad b. al-Muntashir, from Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. Some of them say "from Abū Hurayrah", and some of them transmit it as a mursal report, saying: Ḥumayd, from the Prophet ﷺ. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is the connected one: Ḥumayd, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ.

يرويه عبيد الله بن عمرو الرقي عن عبد الملك عن جندب ووهم فيه والمحفوظ عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن محمد بن المنتشر عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن عن أبي هريرة
