أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّ ابْنَ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَهُمْ. وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

لَيْسَ الصِّيَامُ مِنَ الْأَكْلِ وَالشُّرْبِ، إِنَّمَا الصِّيَامُ مِنَ اللَّغْوِ وَالرَّفَثِ، فَإِنْ سَابَّكَ أَحَدٌ أَوْ جَهِلَ عَلَيْكَ فَلْتَقُلْ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ، إِنِّي صَائِمٌ

Translation

✧ Fasting is not merely from eating and drinking; rather, fasting is from idle talk and obscene speech. If someone abuses you or acts ignorantly toward you, then say: 'I am fasting, I am fasting.'
