✧ The collective chapters on the new moons and the time of the beginning of the fast of Ramadan

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعِجْلِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ؛ فَقَالَ: أَبْصَرْتُ الْهِلَالَ اللَّيْلَةَ. فَقَالَ: " أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهَ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ؟ " قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: قُمْ يَا فُلَانُ فَأَذِّنْ بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا

✧ A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I saw the crescent tonight. He said: "Do you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger?" He said: Yes. He said: Stand, O so-and-so, and announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow.
