✧ I said to him: What do you think about 'Abdullah b. 'Umar's ablution for every prayer, whether he was in a state of purity or not? Who is it from? He said: Asma' bt. Zayd b. al-Khattab narrated to him that 'Abdullah b. Hanzalah b. Abi 'Amir al-Ghasil narrated to her that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was commanded to perform ablution for every prayer, whether he was in a state of purity or not. When that became difficult for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he commanded the use of the toothstick (siwak) for every prayer, and the obligation of ablution was lifted from him except from a ritual impurity. 'Abdullah considered that he had the strength for that, so he did it until he died. This is the hadith of Ya'qub b. Ibrahim, except that Muhammad b. Mansur said: And he used to do it until he died.
