✧ A Jew entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'As-Sam upon you (death be upon you).' The Prophet ﷺ responded: 'And upon you.' Aisha said: 'I wanted to speak, but I recognized the Prophet's dislike of that, so I remained silent. Then another entered and said: 'As-Sam upon you.' He responded: 'And upon you.' I wanted to speak, but I recognized the Prophet's dislike of that. Then the third entered and said: 'As-Sam upon you.' I could not bear it, so I said: 'And upon you be death, and the anger of Allah, and His curse, O brothers of apes and pigs! Do you greet the Messenger of Allah with what Allah has not greeted him?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah does not love obscenity and obscene speech. They said a statement, so we returned it to them. The Jews are an envious people, and they do not envy us for anything as they envy us for the greeting of salam and for Ameen.'
