  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIn this hadith there is a place which, in our view, is an error (wahm), because it begins with washing the face before rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī narrated it from Isrāʾīl with this chain of transmission, and he began in it with rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose before washing the face. Abū Ghassān Mālik b. Ismāʿīl corroborated him, from Isrāʾīl, and he began in it with rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose before the face. And that is the correct version.

machine translationThe most authentic thing in my view regarding running the fingers through the beard (takhlīl) is the hadith of ʿUthmān, and it is a good hadith (ḥasan).

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationHadiths have been narrated about running the fingers through the beard, but none of them is established, and the best thing on it is the hadith of Shaqīq.
