Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1716

✧ Permissibility of the imam speaking after the iqamah has concluded and a need arises for some people

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ:

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَرَجُلٌ يُنَاجِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى نَامَ أَصْحَابُهُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ". وَقَالَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ: أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَجِيٌّ بِرَجُلٍ فِي جَانِبِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَمَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى نَامَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ

Translation

✧ The prayer was called while a man was confiding with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until his companions fell asleep. Then he stood and prayed. Al-Dawraqi said: "The prayer was called while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in private conversation with a man in a corner of the mosque, and he did not stand for prayer until some of the people had fallen asleep."
