What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationSome of the people of knowledge of hadith have claimed that this hadith is broken in its chain (munqaṭiʿ), while others said it is connected (muttaṣil) and traced back to the Prophet (musnad). This indicates that, in his view, it is connected and authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).

machine translationIt is not connected (ghayr muttaṣil), because ʿUbayd Allāh did not hear from ʿUmar.
