أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبَانَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ الْمَدِينِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَدَّهُ هِشَامَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ أَمِيرَ الْمَدِينَةِ، أَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، سَلْهُ كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ يَوْمَ اسْتَسْقَى بِالنَّاسِ ؟ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ، كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ يَوْمَ اسْتَسْقَى ؟ قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُتَخَشِّعًا، مُتَبَذِّلًا، فَصَنَعَ فِيهِ كَمَا يَصْنَعُ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى

✧ Al-Walid b. 'Utba, the governor of Madinah, sent him to Ibn 'Abbas, saying: O my nephew, ask him how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did in the rain prayer the day he prayed for rain with the people. Ishaq said: I entered upon Ibn 'Abbas and said: O Abu al-'Abbas, how did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do in the rain prayer the day he sought rain? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out humble and unpretentious, and he did in it as he did in the prayer of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
