Sahih Ibn Hibban 926

Remove sins from the worshipper by virtue of the Chosen One, ﷺ .

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ فَقَالَ ﷺ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنِ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»

✧ I was a man with a sharp tongue against my family. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will cause me to enter the Fire.' He ﷺ said: 'Where are you with regard to seeking forgiveness? Indeed, I seek Allah's forgiveness a hundred times a day.'
