✧ They had a drying-place for dates, and he used to check it and find it decreasing. One night he guarded it, and behold, there was a creature like a boy who had reached puberty. He said: I greeted it, and it returned the greeting. I said, "What are you, a jinn or a human?" It said, "A jinn." I said, "Give me your hand." Its hand was like a dog's paw with dog's hair. I said, "Is this how jinn are created?" It said, "The jinn know that there is none among them stronger than I." I said, "What made you do what you did?" It said, "I heard that you are a man who loves charity, so I wanted to get some of your food." I said, "What protects us from you?" It said, "This verse, Ayat al-Kursi." He said: I left it, and in the morning my father went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The wicked one spoke the truth."
