أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ
لَقِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ جِبْرِيلَ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي بُعِثْتُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُمَيَّةٍ مِنْهُمُ الْغُلَامُ وَالْجَارِيَةُ وَالْعَجُوزُ وَالشَّيْخُ الْفَانِي» قَالَ «مُرْهُمْ فَلْيَقْرَؤُوا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met Gabriel ﷺ and said to him, “I was sent to an unlettered Ummah: among them are the boy, the girl, the old woman, and the elderly man.” He said, “Command them to recite the Qur’an on seven ahruf.”
