✧ Your lifespan in comparison to the lifespans of the nations that have passed is like the time between the afternoon prayer and sunset. Your likeness and that of the Jews and Christians is that of a man who employed workers and said, 'Who will work for me until midday for a carat, a carat?' The Jews worked until midday for a carat, a carat. Then he said, 'Who will work for me from midday until the afternoon prayer for a carat, a carat?' The Christians worked from midday until the afternoon prayer. Then he said, 'Who will work from the afternoon prayer until sunset for two carats, two carats?' Then he said, 'You are the ones who work from the afternoon prayer until sunset for two carats, two carats.' The Jews and Christians became angry and said, 'We worked more and received less.' He said, 'Have I wronged you in anything of your work?' They said, 'No.' He said, 'That is My bounty; I give it to whom I will.'
