Sahih Ibn Hibban 7144

✧ Bilal bin Rabah the Mu'adhin.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ» فَقَالَ أُبَيٌّ آللَّهُ سَمَّانِي لَكَ؟ قَالَ «اللَّهُ سَمَّاكَ لِي» قَالَ فَجَعَلَ أُبَيٌّ يَبْكِي

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ubayy b. Ka'b: “Allah has commanded me to recite the Quran to you.” Ubayy said: “Did Allah name me to you?” He said: “Allah named you to me.” He said: Then Ubayy began to weep.
