أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
«تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِسِتِّ سِنِينَ وَبَنَى بِي وَأَنَا بِنْتُ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ فَقَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَوُعِكْتُ فَوَفَى شَعْرِي جُمَيْمَةً فَأَتَتْنِي أُمُّ رُومَانَ وَأَنَا عَلَى أُرْجُوحَةٍ وَمَعِي صَوَاحِبُ لِي فَصَرَخَتْ بِي فَأَتَيْتُهَا مَا أَدْرِي مَاذَا تُرِيدُ فَأَخَذَتْ بِيَدِي وَأَوْقَفَتْنِي عَلَى الْبَابِ فَقُلْتُ هَهْ هَهْ شِبْهَ الْمُنْبَهِرَةِ فَأَدْخَلَتْنِي بَيْتًا فَإِذَا نِسْوَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقُلْنَ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ وَالْبَرَكَةِ وَعَلَى خَيْرِ طَائِرٍ فَأَسْلَمَتْنِي إِلَيْهِنَّ فَغَسَلْنَ رَأْسِي وَأَصْلَحْنَنِي فَلَمْ يَرُعْنِي إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ضُحًى فَأَسْلَمْنَنِي إِلَيْهِ»

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me when I was six years old, and he consummated the marriage with me when I was nine years old. He came to Madinah while I was ill, and my hair had grown long. Umm Ruman came to me while I was on a swing, and I had some friends with me. She called out to me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted. She took me by the hand and made me stand at the door. I said, 'Hah, hah,' like one out of breath. She brought me into a house where there were some women of the Ansar. They said: 'Upon goodness and blessing, and upon the best of fortune.' She handed me over to them, and they washed my head and prepared me. Nothing startled me except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming in the forenoon, and they handed me over to him."
