✧ A man came to him and said: "This is so-and-so, an emir from the emirs of Madinah, who invites you to curse 'Ali on the pulpit." He said: "What should I say?" He said: "You should call him Abu Turab (father of dust)." So Sahl laughed and said: "By Allah, no one named him that except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. There was no name dearer to 'Ali than it. 'Ali entered upon Fatimah, then he left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Fatimah and said: 'Where is your cousin?' She said: 'There he is, lying in the mosque.' The Prophet ﷺ went out and found his cloak had fallen from his back. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began wiping the dust from his back and saying: 'Sit up, Abu Turab.' By Allah, there was no name dearer to him than it. No one named him that except the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
