✧ He was reclining in one of the gardens of Madinah, poking with a stick in the water and mud, when a man came and asked permission. He ﷺ said, 'Open for him and give him glad tidings of Paradise.' And it was Abu Bakr, so I opened for him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. Then another asked permission. He said, 'Open for him and give him glad tidings of Paradise.' And it was Umar, so I opened for him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. Then another asked permission. He sat for a while, then said, 'Open for him and give him glad tidings of Paradise along with an affliction.' He said, so I opened for him, and it was Uthman, and I gave him glad tidings of Paradise and told him what he had said. He said, 'O Allah, grant patience,' or he said, 'Allah is the one whose help is sought.'
