Tribulations and Incidents in the Ummah of the Prophet ﷺ

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ وَعَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ» ثُمَّ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَذَكَرَ الثَّالِثَ أَمْ لَا «ثُمَّ يَنْشَأُ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ وَيَنْذِرُونَ وَلَا يُوفُونَ وَيَخُونُونَ وَلَا يُؤْتَمَنُونَ وَيَفْشُو فِيهِمُ السِّمَنُ»

✧ The best of my Ummah is the generation in which I was sent, then those who follow them—then Allah knows best whether he mentioned the third or not—then there will arise a people who give testimony but are not asked to testify, who make vows but do not fulfill them, who are treacherous and not entrusted, and among whom obesity will spread.
