أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ بِمَنْبِجَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ بِعَسْقَلَانَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُعَافَى بْنِ أَبِي حَنْظَلَةَ الْعَابِدُ بِصَيْدَاءَ فِي آخَرِينَ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْأَزْرَقُ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

أَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَدَّى عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَبْعَةَ آلَافِ دِينَارٍ دَيْنًا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلزُّهْرِيِّ لَا تَعُودَنَّ تَدَّانُ فقَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ كَيْفَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَقَدْ

    ورواه صالح بن أبي الأخضر وزمعة بن صالح عن الزهري عن سالم عن ابن عمر ووهم فيه والصحيح عن سعيد وحده عن أبي هريرة

Al-Muʿāfā b. ʿImrān also narrated it, and there is disagreement about him: Muḥammad b. Muḥammad b. Sulaymān al-Bāghandī said, from Ibn ʿAmmār al-Mawṣilī, from al-Muʿāfā, from Ṣāliḥ and Zamʿah together, from al-Zuhrī, in that way, and that is the correct version. Zamʿah and Ṣāliḥ b. Abī al-Akhḍar made an error in this hadith from al-Zuhrī when they said, from him, from Sālim, from his father. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is what ʿUqayl b. Khālid, Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz and others among the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurayrah, and that is the preserved one.
