قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ
أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ «أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ مِنْ مَسْكَنِهِ بِالسُّنْحِ حَتَّى نَزَلَ فَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلَمْ يُكَلِّمِ النَّاسَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَتَيَمَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُسَجًّى بِبُرْدَةَ حِبَرَةٍ فَكَشَفَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَأَكَبَّ عَلَيْهِ فَقَبَّلَهُ وَبَكَى ثُمَّ قَالَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَاللَّهِ لَا يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ مَوْتَتَيْنِ أَبَدًا أَمَّا الْمُوتَةُ الَّتِي كُتِبَتْ عَلَيْكَ فَقَدْ مُتَّهَا»

✧ Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed him: "Abu Bakr came on horseback from his dwelling in al-Sunh until he dismounted and entered the mosque. He did not speak to the people until he entered upon Aisha and approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was covered with a striped cloak. He uncovered his face, bent over him, kissed him, and wept. Then he said, 'May my father be your ransom. By Allah, Allah will never combine two deaths upon you. As for the death that was decreed for you, you have died it.'"
