✧ The illness of the Prophet ﷺ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ وَعُمْرَةُ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ «صُبُّوا عَلَيَّ مِنْ سَبْعِ قِرَبٍ لَمْ تُحْلَلْ أَوْكِيَتُهُنَّ لَعَلِّي أَسْتَرِيحُ فَأَعْهَدَ إِلَى النَّاسِ» قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَأَجْلَسْنَاهُ فِي مِخْضَبٍ لِحَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ عُمَرَ مِنْ نُحَاسٍ فَسَكَبْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى طَفِقَ يُشِيرُ إِلَيْنَا أَنْ قَدْ فَعَلْتُنَّ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the illness in which he died: "Pour over me from seven waterskins whose openings have not been untied, so that I may find relief and then give my covenant to the people." A'isha said: So we seated him in a copper tub belonging to Hafsa bt. Umar, and we poured water over him until he began to gesture to us that we had done enough. Then he went out to the mosque.
