✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ first fell ill in the house of Maymunah. His illness became severe until he lost consciousness. He said: They consulted about giving him ladud (a medicine poured into the side of the mouth), so they gave it to him. When he regained consciousness, he said: "What is this? Is this the action of women who have come from here?" and he pointed to the land of Abyssinia. Asma' bt. Umays was among them. They said: "We suspected you had pleurisy, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "If that were a disease, Allah would not afflict me with it. No one in the house shall remain but that he is given ladud, except the uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," meaning Abbas. He said: Indeed Maymunah was given ladud that day while she was fasting, due to the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
