أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ أُخْتَ الرَّبِيعِ أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ جَرَحَتْ إِنْسَانًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْقِصَاصَ الْقِصَاصَ» فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الرَّبِيعِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَقْتَصُّ مِنْ فُلَانَةَ؟ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تَقْتَصُّ مِنْهَا فَلَمْ يَزَالُوا بِهِمْ حَتَّى رَضُوا بِالدِّيَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ»

Translation

✧ The sister of al-Rabi', Umm Harithah, wounded a person. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Retaliation, retaliation.' Umm al-Rabi' said, 'O Messenger of Allah, will you exact retaliation from so-and-so? No, by Allah, you will not exact retaliation from her.' They did not cease until they were satisfied with the blood money. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, among the servants of Allah are those who, if they were to swear by Allah, He would fulfill their oath.'
