أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

«احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وَأَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ؟ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

Translation

✧ Adam and Musa argued. Musa said, 'You are Adam whom Allah created with His hand and breathed into you from His spirit, and you led people astray and expelled them from Paradise.' Adam said, 'You are Musa whom Allah chose with His speech. Do you blame me for a deed I did that Allah decreed for me before He created the heavens and the earth?' So Adam prevailed over Musa.
