machine translationHe was asked about the hadith of Abū ʿUthmān al-Nahdī, from Saʿīd b. Zayd, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "I have not left behind me any trial more harmful to men than women." He said: It is a hadith that Muʿtamir b. Sulaymān narrates from his father, from Abū ʿUthmān, from Usāmah b. Zayd and Saʿīd b. Zayd, from the Prophet ﷺ. But the companions of al-Taymī contradicted him, among them Sufyān al-Thawrī, Shuʿbah, Yazīd b. Zurayʿ and others, for they transmitted it as connected from Usāmah b. Zayd alone, from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is the one I prefer. Muslim included both versions in his Ṣaḥīḥ.
