أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمَذَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَنْ تَجْلِسُوا بِأَفْنِيَةِ الصُّعُدَاتِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَا نَسْتَطِيعُ ذَلِكَ وَلَا نُطِيقُهُ قَالَ «إِمَّا لَا فَأَدُّوا حَقَّهَا» قَالُوا وَمَا حَقُّهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «رَدُّ التَّحِيَّةِ وَتَشْمِيتُ الْعَاطِسِ إِذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَغَضُّ الْبَصَرِ وَإِرْشَادُ السَّبِيلِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade sitting in the open areas of the roads. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we cannot avoid that and we cannot endure it." He said, "If you must, then fulfill its right." They said, "What is its right, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Returning the greeting, invoking mercy upon the one who sneezes when he praises Allah, lowering the gaze, and guiding the way."
