أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِجَدِّهِ «مَا اسْمُكَ»؟ قَالَ «حَزْنٌ» فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «بَلْ أَنْتَ سَهْلٌ» قَالَ لَا أُغَيِّرُ اسْمًا سَمَّانِيهِ أَبِي قَالَ سَعِيدٌ «فَمَا زَالَتْ فِينَا حُزُونَةٌ بَعْدُ»

✧ That the Prophet ﷺ said to his grandfather, "What is your name?" He said, "Hazn." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Rather, you are Sahl." He said, "I will not change a name my father gave me." Sa'id said, "So harshness has remained among us ever since."
