✧ “The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He stood, and we stood with him, and he prayed. Then he turned to us and began narrating to us, saying, ‘Paradise was brought near to me, so much so that if I had wished, I could have plucked a bunch of its fruits. And the Fire was shown to me, and had I not warded it off from you, it would have overwhelmed you. In it I saw three people being punished: a tall, black Ḥimyarite woman being punished because of a cat she had tied up. She neither let it eat from the vermin of the earth nor fed it until it died. So whenever it comes toward her, it bites her, and whenever she turns away, it bites her. I saw the brother of Banū Daʿdaʿ, the owner of the two sāʾibahs, being pushed with two pillars in the Fire. The two sāʾibahs were two camels of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ which he stole. And I saw the owner of the hooked staff leaning on his staff. The owner of the hooked staff used to steal the belongings of pilgrims with his hooked staff. When it was unnoticed, he would take it away, and when it was discovered, he would say, “I did not steal; it merely got caught on my staff.”’”
