✧ One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ put on a brocade outer garment that had been gifted to him, then he took it off and sent it to ‘Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ. It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, why did you take it off?” He said, “Gabriel came to me and forbade me from it.” He said, then ‘Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ came to him weeping and said, “O Messenger of Allah, you dislike it yet you give it to me?” He said, “I did not give it to you to wear; I gave it to you only to sell it.” So he sold it for two thousand dirhams.
