✧ Hudhayfah asked a village chief in al-Mada'in for water, and he brought him a drink in a silver vessel. Hudhayfah threw it at him. We were afraid to speak to Hudhayfah, but when his anger subsided, he said, "I apologize to you for this. I had told him beforehand not to give me drink in this." Then he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us as a preacher and said, 'Do not drink from vessels of silver or gold, and do not wear silk or brocade, for these are for them in this world and for you in the Hereafter.'"
