أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
كَانُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ إِذَا عَقُّوا عَنِ الصَّبِيِّ خَضَبُوا قُطْنَةً بِدَمِ الْعَقِيقَةِ فَإِذَا حَلَقُوا رَأْسَ الصَّبِيِّ وَضَعُوهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اجْعَلُوا مَكَانَ الدَّمِ خَلُوقًا»

✧ In the pre-Islamic era, when they performed the 'aqiqah for a newborn boy, they would dye a piece of cotton with the blood of the sacrificial animal. Then, when they shaved the baby's head, they would place it on his head. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Put perfume in place of the blood."
