أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

«كُنْتُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الصُّفَّةِ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِتَمْرِ عَجْوَةٍ فَكُبَّتْ بَيْنَنَا فَجَعَلْنَا نَأْكُلُ الثِّنْتَيْنِ مِنَ الْجُوعِ وَجَعَلَ أَصْحَابُنَا إِذَا قَرَنَ أَحَدُهُمْ قَالَ لِصَاحِبِهِ إِنِّي قَدْ قَرَنْتُ فَأَقْرِنُوا»

✧ “I was among the people of the Suffah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us some ʿajwah dates, which were poured out among us. We began eating two at a time out of hunger, and our companions, when one of them paired, would say to his companion, ‘I have paired, so you pair too.’”
