✧ The Return in Gift

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ الضَّرِيرُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولَانِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
«لَا يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ عَطِيَّةً أَوْ هِبَةً ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا إِلَّا الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي عَطِيَّةً أَوْ هِبَةً ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ أَكَلَ حَتَّى شَبِعَ ثُمَّ قَاءَ ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى قَيْئِهِ»

✧ “It is not lawful for a man to give a gift or grant then take it back, except a father in what he gives his child. The example of the one who gives a gift or grant then takes it back is like the dog that eats until it is full, then vomits, then returns to its vomit.”
