أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ الْبَزَّازُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الطُّوسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
أَنَّهَا أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ بَرِيرَةَ لِلْعِتْقِ فَاشْتَرَطُوا وَلَاءَهَا فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اشْتَرِيهَا وَأَعْتِقِيهَا فَإِنَّمَا الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ» وَأُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَحْمٌ فَقُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ هَذَا تُصُدِّقَ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ فَقَالَ «هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَلَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ»

✧ That she wanted to buy Barirah in order to manumit her, but they stipulated her wala'. That was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Buy her and manumit her, for wala' belongs to the one who manumits.” And some meat was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said to the Prophet ﷺ, “This was given as charity to Barirah.” He said, “It is charity for her and a gift for us.”
