✧ The slain are of three types: a believing man who strives with his soul and wealth in the path of Allah, and when he meets the enemy he fights them until he is killed—that is the tested martyr in the tent of Allah beneath His Throne, and the prophets do not surpass him except by the rank of prophethood. A believing man who has brought sins and errors upon himself, who strives with his soul and wealth in the path of Allah, and when he meets the enemy he fights until he is killed—that is a purification that wipes away his sins and errors. Indeed the sword erases errors, and he will be admitted from whichever of the gates of Paradise he wishes, for it has eight gates, and Hell has seven gates, and some are better than others. And a hypocritical man who strives with his soul and wealth in the path of Allah, and when he meets the enemy he fights until he is killed—that one is in the Fire. Indeed the sword does not erase hypocrisy.
